A challenging project to bring a void underneath the Princess Alexandra Auditorium in to use to create a bar, changing facilities and teaching spaces.

As the project progressed, the site was open 7 days a weeks to maintain progress and our employees produced an exceptional standard of finish. The end result is a fantastic new facility for the school that is nominated for an LABC award.

The existing terrace area was dismantled and site access to the rear of the building created to allow the project to commence. Structural alterations to the existing building were required at the onset, in addition to damp-proofing and earth retention works. Careful planning of the initial works was required to allow safe progress whilst working in a confined space with plant.

It was great to work with Yarm School on this project which followed on from the successful Music School, constructed adjacent to The Friarage and for which we won 'The Best Educational Building' in the UK.
